RIP Cat Ballou

So this week has been one that is a bit off beat.  The weather has been all over the place.  Highs have been in the 90s and lows in the 40s.  The Goats have been escaping and Little Rat has been in the barn at night for feeding.  B’day still hasn’t had her calf and Sadly Cat Ballou passed away.

So the goats have escaped twice.  Once Matthew was fighting with Burl through the gate and Popped it open.  Then all the milk goats took to the pasture and the fight for girls was on.  Silly Ram and Billy Goat don’t understand The ewes are sheep and the does are goats and they can’t mix.  There was headbutting and rearing up involved until Mom and I got everyone back to where they should have been.   The second time they got the little walk thru gate open and the same things happened.

Little Rat is out on the small sheep pasture with the other injured cattle but he refuses to eat with them.  I think the Donkeys and the sheep scare him.  While the other cattle are much bigger and seem to just push him around.  So every night I go out and round him up and put him in the barn to eat dinner .  I leave him there until morning when I feed him Breakfast and then turn him back out.  This works well until dark.  If I don’t get him in before dark he lays down out in the pasture and you have to go hunt for him.  Once you find him he gets up and you can get him in but if you don’t go looking he isn’t coming on his own.

We are still waiting for B’Day to grace us with the little one in her belly.  We are almost positive she has one in there but so far we haven’t met it.  If she doesn’t give it up by the end of October we will know she faked us out.  Who knows Maybe she is waiting to give me a birthday baby.  It makes sense since She was my Birthday present all those years ago, hence her name.  If that is the case she better pop it on out this Saturday … LOL

The sad part of the week came yesterday when one of our Oldest Angora Goats passed away in her sleep.  I am not sure if it was the weather or something else but she was about 11 years old.  We got them three and a half years ago as older does and a billy.  Curly and Cisco Kidd passed away last year so we feel blesses to have had Cat for another year.  We will miss her as she was the one always wanting in the podcast and photo bombing everyone.  RIP Cat Ballou … We love you and will miss you.
